Like his other movies (especially Pulp Fiction), each individual component (except Mike Myers, sheesh) was great by itself, but taken together they make less sense. Man you are so right about the Wire, though. I just finished Season 4 a month or so ago, and the performances of those kids was pretty amazing. Sometimes I think there's no point in ever watching anything else ever again. I've had WWII on the brain a bit lately too, but not cause I plan to shell out the bucks for BASTERDS (I've always kinda disliked QT, and more & more with each passing, self-indulgent "look-at-how-clever-I-am" flick)...no, it's because I've been watching a BAND OF BROTHERS marathon (again) on cable. If there's a show that lives up to the hype, it's this one. Manages to avoid all the jingoistic schlockiness of PRIVATE RYAN, and is unspeakably inspiring even as it drives home the horrors of being a citizen soldier. Dear god, those guys were you and me, Dusty. I'm humbled by the very thought of it. THE WIRE will really ruin you, won't it?
